Liverpool see off Leicester in their top of the table clash.

Liverpool returned to league action away to their nearest rivals Leicester. Right from the kick off Liverpool got into their game and dominated the opening exchanges. Liverpool were playing controlled football, and had the better of possession and terrortry in the first twenty minutes, but failed to make any clear cut chances.
On 24 minutes Liverpool won a free kick on the left. Vicky took the Kick to Natalie who clipped it inside to Katie Brusell who drew the defence before pushing the ball through to Fozzy who slotted home to open the scoring with a very well worked goal.
Leicester’s first chance came on 34 minutes following a free kick on the halfway line, but the shot was easily saved by Hannah in goal. Liverpool had a chance to extend their lead a minute later when Fozzy put Kelly through but her shot hit the keeper who did well to gather in the loose ball.
A second free kick to Leicester when the ball was adjudged to have hit Carmel’s hand a few yards outside the box on the right, from the kick Leicester switched the ball to a Leicester player on the left whose shot went just wide.
With the half drawing to a close Carmel headed forward from a Leicester goal kick for Fozzy to run onto. Fozzy shaped to blast the ball but deftly stroked the ball just inside the right post to beat the keeper with a quality finish. Giving Liverpool a well deserved 2-0 lead at half time.
In the second half Liverpool seemed to loose their way and Leicester pushed to get back into the game. It took ten minutes before Liverpool had a meaningful attack. Kelly found Katy B who put Fozzy through, but Fozzy blasted over on this occasion. Leicester continued to press and on 23 minutes it took a good save from Hannah to stop them from opening their account. A minute later Nat went down with cramp and was substituted with Jenny.
Leicester again pushed forward and were awarded a penalty when a Leicester player blasted a ball into the box which struck the hand of Anisha. Hannah was equal to the penalty and pulled off a deserved save.
With fourteen minutes to go Liverpool subbed Aly for Katy B and Amber for Kelly to rest two of Liverpool hardworking strikers. Leicester’s push abated and Liverpool saw out the remainder of the game without incident and concluded as well deserved winners.
