Match Report
Liverpool collect the cup in style

With the league won Liverpool faced Aston Villa for both teams last match of the season. Liverpool had the better of the opening exchanges and it was not a surprise when Amber crossed for Kelly to head home for Liverpool to open the scoring on 21 minutes. Liverpool continued to press and Villa occasionally broke but at no time causing great concern to Hannah in Goal.
At the start of the second half Liverpool brought on Danni Gibson for Amber Simms. Five minutes into the second half Liverpool created a good move on the left when Katie B. broke with the ball before finding Vicky who in turn found Fozzy. Fozzy cut inside to shoot, her shot just going over.
Six minutes later Nat put a really nice ball through and Fozzy timed her run to perfection to go through on the advancing keeper. Fozzy had the coolness required to just lift the ball over the keeper and into the net to give Liverpool a comfortable lead.
Chances were now coming thick and fast two minutes later Kelly crossed from the right and Katie B headed towards goal but the Villa keeper made a good save, Kelly advanced on the loose ball but was adjudged to be offside.
With twenty minutes to go Caz came on for Katie W. and Lou for Jenny.
With just injury time to play Katy B was brought down in the box and a penalty was awarded. Fozzy put the ball just wide but her 22 goals for the season should make her the top goal scorer for the league.
The refs final whistle drew a close to a very successful season for Liverpool Ladies. It was good to note that Liverpool Ladies had managed to go the whole season without getting a card in the league, FA Cup or League Cup.
All that remained was to collect the cup.
