About the Centre

The Liverpool Girls Centre of Excellence currently caters for 62 talented footballers within the North West under the stewardship and guidance of Centre Director, Kevin Quigley. Kevin is the current holder of the UEFA ‘A’ Licence added to his IFA, FAI and FA coaching certificates and has extensive coaching experience throughout the North West of Ireland, Wales and England.

Structured and progressive coaching is given to talented female footballers within our centre from some of the best youth coaches in the city. Further to this, an education of leadership, sports psychology, injury management, fitness and nutrition is also given to our players offering further opportunity, knowledge and guidance.

The purpose of FA Centres is to identify players of outstanding ability and place them in a technical and educational programme designed to produce excellence in conjunction with personal development.

The FA Girls Centre of Excellence is embedded into the female player pathway with talent identification days throughout the National Fixture Programme which enables England Scouts to watch the best girls from all over the county.

The centre currently has teams within the Under 10, Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 age categories. The main emphasis is on player development in the hope that many of our girls will continue to make great strides towards the elite women’s game with our First team and also gain international recognition.

The centre holds coaching sessions twice a week and plays match day fixtures against other FA CofE’s such as Everton, Crewe, Blackburn, Manchester Utd, Aston Villa, Wolves and Stoke.

Message from the Director

Dear Parent/Player,

Welcome to Liverpool Ladies Football Club - Girls Centre of Excellence I trust that your time with us at the centre will be educational, successful, worthwhile and most of all an enjoyable experience.

As you may know, we try to offer a product to our players which covers all aspects of growing up, rather than just to football development. Obviously our main aim is to develop players in the hope that many of them will continue to make strides towards the elite women’s game with our first team and also gain international recognition. However we also see our role in helping and assisting in producing nice people as a great achievement too. In fact, any player who attends this centre is assured of a quality experience in all departments.

To be successful, the process of youth development has to be built on a firm foundation of trust and strong partnerships between parents, players and the centre. Everyone working together can only do this.

I would like to remind you of our club rituals which we spoke about at the induction meeting. Punctuality, a good attitude, politeness, enthusiasm and appreciation are very important qualities that we expect of you. I hope you enjoy this season with us and will look forward to seeing you perform to the best of your ability at every training session and match day.

Best wishes
Kevin Quigley
Centre Director

Recruitment

Each June we hold a trials event for Liverpool Girls Centre of Excellence.   Individual trials can take place at anytime over the season if players are recommended by scouts or club managers. .

A player will be offered an initial 2 week trial involving 4 coaching sessions with their respective age group. It will then be at the discretion of the director and coach to further the trial by 2 more weeks incorporating 2 games. At the end of the trial period an assessment will take place between director, coach, player and parent in which a decision regarding registration will be made.

Please note that any player involved in club football MUST notify their club at least 7 days prior to applying for a Centre of Excellence trial.

If you know a talented player under the age of 16 who has played regularly at club or district level and would like to nominate them for a trial please contact Centre Director Kevin Quigley via email at kevin.quigley@live.co.uk
